As you know, the trade in these illicit stones has contributed to devastating conflicts in countries such as Angola, Cote d’Ivoire, the Democratic republic of Congo and Sierre Leone. It is vitally important to us that we can assure our customers that we have no part, even indirectly, in this tragedy.
Leading organizations in our industry agreed in 2002 on a voluntary program of self-regulation to complement the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, created by the governments of nations involved in the diamond trade. SMI Diamonds fully supports the industry’s self-regulation program, which tracks diamonds after they are Kimberley-certified.
The core of that program is a chain of warranties that follows rough diamonds, polished diamonds, and jewelry containing diamonds throughout the supply chain. It requires that every time diamonds – loose or set in jewelry – change hands, the seller will affirm on the invoice that they were obtained from legitimate sources.

The diamonds herein invoiced have been purchased from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict and in compliance with United Nations Resolutions. The seller hereby guarantees that these diamonds are conflict free, based on personal knowledge and/or written guarantees provided by the supplier of these diamonds.
